After binge watching a number of Korean eating variety shows on YouTube, I had such a huge craving for Korean food. Somehow, they make everything they eat so delicious! So we headed down to the nearest Korean restaurant, Aunty Kim’s Korean Restaurant at Alexandra Retail Centre. As the retail centre is surrounded by office buildings, it is pretty empty by dinner time.
One of the reasons why I love Korean food is because they always provide an array of side dishes along with the meals.

Our go to dish would always be the Bibimbap 비빔밥. You would find everything you would want in a claypot bowl: Carrots, Lettuce, Cucumber, Beansprouts, Spinach, Dried Seaweed, Chicken and a Sunny Side-Up Egg, with a side of Gochujang Sauce (Korean Red Hot Pepper Sauce). The best part is when you mix them all together and you hear the sizzling from the claypot. The Gochujang Sauce here is not too spicy but is full of flavour, and the chicken was very tender.

We also ordered the Seolleongtang 설렁탕, which is “stock soup of bone and stew meat”. There’s that satisfaction you get when you take a scoop of rice and dip it into the broth. However, I felt that the broth was not as flavourful as the ones I have tried elsewhere. It got a little plain at times especially when there is so much noodles and rice on the side, but to my surprise, I still finished everything. The beef slices were tender and delicious, but I felt that the quantity was lacking a little.

I would definitely give their BBQ dishes a try since their Bibimbap was really good. Till next time!
